SENIOR DATA ENGINEER

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer with a strong background in Data Engineering, DevOps, and System Infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing scalable data platforms while collaborating closely with engineering, infrastructure, and business teams.

This position is suitable for candidates who possess solid system thinking, infrastructure knowledge, and extensive experience in building reliable and high-performance data pipelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows.
• Build and optimize data warehouses, data lakes, and data platforms.
• Design data architectures that support analytics, reporting, and machine learning initiatives.
• Develop and maintain batch and real-time data processing systems.
• Collaborate with DevOps and Infrastructure teams to deploy and manage data platforms.
• Monitor system performance, reliability, and data quality.
• Implement CI/CD practices for data engineering workflows.
• Optimize database performance, storage, and query efficiency.
• Ensure data security, governance, and compliance standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical decisions and architecture discussions.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Data Engineering or related roles.
• Proven experience designing and operating large-scale data platforms.
• Experience working in production environments with high availability requirements.

Technical Skills

• Strong SQL and database optimization skills.
• Proficiency in Python, Scala, or Java.
• Experience with ETL/ELT tools and workflow orchestration platforms.
• Hands-on experience with data processing frameworks such as Spark.
• Experience with data warehouses and big data technologies.

DevOps & System Background

• Strong understanding of Linux systems and system administration.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Understanding of networking, monitoring, logging, and system performance tuning.

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead technical initiatives.
• Experience mentoring or leading engineering teams is a plus.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka.
• Experience building data platforms for AI/ML workloads.
• Knowledge of data governance and security best practices.
• Certifications in cloud or DevOps technologies are advantageous.
